Kris Kringle gift - McCall's M6132

Maybe I just work better under pressure.

As a part of my Kris Kringle gift I decided to make my KK an apron.  Why an apron?  Because if you willingly clean out the fridge at work, you need a special apron to make the task more bearable!  Besides this pattern makes me smile.  I hope it does the same for her.

I have combined two things I know she likes into this apron.  Cats and the colour green!

I had this vintage fabric that I have had for a while, I have come to the conclusion in my life that I need to use things instead of them becoming objects that you just look at or that become someone else's problem when you're no longer around.

This is a lovely pattern, I have used it before.  It is easy to put together.  It allowed me to do some applique and use some of the other types of stitches I don't usually use on my sewing machine to complete the whiskers, mouth, ears and nose. So, if you are looking for an apron to make, this is a bit of fun.

I actually made two of these in the same fabric, the other is for a friends birthday.

I want to make another two, one of which will be for me.  More of that at a later date.

Mug rugs

Happy new year.

In keeping with my goal for 2016 (to blog every week), here is my first creation for 2016.

I initially saw this style of coaster at a friends place.

So, l thought l would give it a go.

To create these mug rugs you will need 5" squares of fabric (5 colours).

Place the base colour of your coaster right side facing you, then place on top a folded square, making sure the fold of the square is facing the centre of the square and the raw edges are facing out. Continue to layer each colour around the square:

 When you get to the end, lift up the first fold and tuck in the fourth fold:

Pin all sides down, sew a 1/4" seam all around.

Trim the corners and edges.

Turn inside out , and there you have it:

A nice quick and easy gift for birthdays or for Christmas 2016!

Those pesky elves...

Those pesky elves were quiet for a while.  Seems they haven't been focused on the purpose to their being...to start making those Christmas gifts.

So, last weekend I found where they were hiding, seems they had started early with their post Christmas celebrations without completing all their Christmas tasks! Santra was not happy.

They've been hard at work this week trying to find a balance between work duties and Christmas duties.  They've finished some of their Christmas duties tonight. They are working on a project of Notebook covers. Everything is in stages. Hopefully we will have finished projects by the weekend and photos to show you......Santra (alias Sandra D)
