It's a balmy night inside the house tonight and my fingers just seem to be sticking to the keyboard tonight.

A few weeks ago I really didn't think that I'd be able to achieve my goal of 52 blog posts for the year. However, here I am with my 52nd blog!  Fanfare music playing here!

I had purchased as a gift for a friend a quick unpick.  Odd gift, but this is very special.  I had originally purchased one for myself from Alan's Pen Making after rave reviews from other sewers on a group site I suscribe to on Facebook.  It's made from wood.  So pretty, and every sewer should have special tools to work with.

Here's the one I purchased for a friend:

I decided to make some sort of bag for it to go into.  I downloaded a pattern off the internet from Flamingo Toes called the Spring Zipper Pouch Pattern.  It is very simple to make.  I used a vintage fabric I'd previously used on some aprons I had made:

Well that makes 52.  Sewing goals for next year?

I will aim to:

* make and blog about 52 of my creations
* choose three mediums in sewing that I have not worked with, first cab off the rank will be leather

So Sew Easy Boxy Bag

I decided to purchase this pattern, it was only a few dollars to download off the So-Sew-Easy.com website.  I weighed up the pros and cons of drafting myself, and decided that it would cost me more time to develop the pattern and test it and then produce it.  Plus, the patterns from this web site, whether you purchase them or are for free are as they suggest, so easy to sew.

The red one is for me (finally made a decision about what fabric to use for me).  I'm always misplacing my keys, so this is their new home in my handbag.

Re-purposed container, now Wonderclip storage

Have you ever purchased a food item for the container it's in? Guilty as charged.  Or, maybe you've purchased a food item and not thought much of the container...until, I needed a container.  I purchased a container of steel cut oats; at the same time I needed a container to put my Wonderclips in.

The oats were coming to an end, mm, nice sturdy container...

But, I felt it needed more style.

Purchase some stick on fabric from Daiso, measure to size, stick on...

and there you go, a pretty container to put my Wonderclips in (thanks Red Tractor - great oats by the way):

Well, it's not technically sewing, but sewing related, as sewers we're always looking for something to store some sewing related item in!

So Sew Easy - The Perfect Baby Burp Cloth

I have a family member who has just had a baby, baby number 3 that is.  I am thinking of putting together a basket of things.

I came across this pattern, the " So Sew Easy - The Perfect Baby Burp Cloth" on Craftsy. I thought it may be something different to give a well versed mum as she probably hasn't received any of these and is using a towel over her shoulder.

Is this pattern as easy as it makes out?  Yes.

From one fat quarter you can cut three baby burp cloths. Since towelling is hard to get, I purchased a hand towel to use as the towelling on the reverse of the burp cloths.  I was able to cut four burp cloths from each hand towel.  However, I did have to undo the sewing on the ends of the hand towel to then allow me to cut four of these out.

I was only going to make four of these, but made eight instead, I figured one for each day of the week and an extra for good measure.

Patchwork bag.

One post a week is my personal challenge. Almost didn't think l would make it this week!

What prompted my latest creation was the need for a birthday present. I've had many good ideas along the way, and many good suggestions by others.

What caught my eye on Pinterest was a bag.

I went to this site:  https://www.pinterest.com/source/patchworkycia.blogspot.com.es/   Found photos and no instructions.  I tell a lie, I found instructions, but in Spanish.  Using Google translate wasn't exactly helpful.

I also found this same bag at:  http://www.handmadiya.com/2014/06/blog-post_5.html?m=1.  Again Google translate let me down.

So, between these two sites and one other I was able to construct a bag.  I guess what prompted me to finally decide on this bag style was the fabric.  The fabric inspired me to begin this bag.  Japanese fat quarters I'd had in my stash that I'd forgotten I had.

I like this bag, too bad I don't have any of this fabric left.  I am pressed for time, so this bag can't be mine, it is going to a good home.
